Guest Speaker/Slideshow
Join Larry Lindahl as he takes you on a photographic journey to 50 national parks, national monuments, state parks and other cherished ancient archaeological sites in the American Southwest. In his award-winning book “The Ancient Southwest” (Rio Nuevo Publishers, Tucson, AZ), Lindahl captures the essence of ancient ruins and rock art in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona in more than 130 spectacular images.
Lindahl will discuss the variety of challenges in bringing this comprehensive collection of images together. During the project he photographed museum artifacts and he will explain a few of his methods for making unique images of ancient tools, decorated pottery, and historical dioramas. He will cover night photography, light painting, HDR processing, and talk about working with Native American guides, pilots for aerial photography shoots, and backpacking to remote ancient sites.
